about

This song is not ambiguous. The term ‘FUBAR’ is a US military expression dating back to World War II – look it up. The last three initials stand for “…Beyond All Recognition”. NB In the UK, ‘chips’ are thick potato fries, and used to be wrapped in old newspapers or blank newsprint! Features Thaddeus Allison on trumpet.

lyrics

Here is the news: we’ve
faked all the news, there
is no new news – can’t
wrap your chips in the news.
You’ve seen all the lies.
You’ve heard all the lies.
You’ve shared all the lies, now
here comes fire.

The World is FUBAR. Yeah.

The skies are all dark, but
we can’t build an ark – the
gopher has gone to
fetch popcorn for God.
You wanted to leave.
You wanted to stay.
Now have a nice day!
Now, here comes fire.

The world is FUBAR. Yeah.

There is a myth that simpler times once
spread their wings, but
the naked ape got pissed on the grape and
needed things.
You voted them in!
You let them win! Now you’re
oppressed by the din! Now,
here comes fire.

The world is FUBAR. Yeah.

Bring me your princes,
bring me your Kings;
bring me your mobiles and
Shiny new things.

Bring me your plastics and
bring me your gold.
Bring me your children, but
slaughter the old.

Bring me your sages, the
crazy, the wise.
The world will go blind when
we’ve all got no eyes.
