Pulling Wires

by The Bedlam Furnaces

/

about

Electronica and metal meet to riff on those things that grow in darkness and overtake us if ignored. Initially a gut-reaction to a close friend's illness and built on a deceptively simple chord sequence, the composition and lyrics were then tugged about wildly by world events. You decide who, or what, the singer is.

lyrics

I… I am silent,
In the darkness, I abide
I can wait, the waiting's easy –
I have time on my side.
You may try to ghost me
may even cast me as a friend
But I – I tread softly and
I may ghost you, in the end.

You may try to bargain
But I don't reason with my host
My life is not a lived one
And I'll take who you love most
Things… you come to value
Will taste as ashes
Feel like dust
The end will not come easy as
Endings never must.

I have taken paupers, silenced princes,
humiliated Kings,
Still you try ignore me, you abhor me
Try to blunt my stings.
Yet I can't stop you hoping, stop you dreaming, building fires
So I must keep provoking, keep on stoking
Continue pulling wires.
